YAHOO-AOL in talks again; Yahoo annual meet on august 1st
July 14, 2008In less than a month’s time, the Yahoo! Shareholders’ meeting will take place. The all important meeting will commence on August 1st. Everyone knows that the current board’s future in Yahoo! is at stake so it should come as no surprise that they will try different ways to convince their shareholders for a re-election of the same board.
Word is doing the round that talks of Yahoo’s merger with Time Warner have been revived for possibly integrating Yahoo and AOL. The deal could not happen earlier because Yahoo! would cost $10 billion (since Microsoft already had its bid in place).
The shareholders’ meeting was not the only thing that reignited the interest in the merger with Time Warner’s AOL.
Another reason is that apparently AOL has been approached by Microsoft in a futile attempt to launch a break-up bid of Yahoo!.
Time is running out… Jerry Yang is obviously worried and therefore spent the weekend seeking advice of the best possible alternatives, from Wall Street broker Goldman Sachs that could be presented at the annual meeting.
