March 12, 2008

Mozilla recently announced the release of the new, improved beta version of Firefox 3.0 browser, which includes several key enhancements over the previous beta version. It is intended only for testing purposes for now. It includes features for fast and smooth functioning of web applications like Google Mail and Zoho Office. Improvements to memory usage will reduce the amount of memory consumed over long web browsing sessions. In addition to this, Mozilla’s Firefox 3.0 beta 4 version includes solutions for stability and personalisation through a location bar that uses an algorithmic programme, providing better matches against the visitors’ history and bookmarks for URLs and page titles. Plus, the adaptive learning algorithm tunes itself to the visitors’ browsing habits.

Mozilla’s Firefox 3.0 beta 4 version also includes platform-specific enhancements, such as support for HTML5’s window.postMessage and window.messageEvent, JavaScript 1.8 improvements, and offline data storage for web applications. Significant improvements to the user interface (UI) comprise better search support in the Download Manager, ability of zooming entire page or merely the text, continuing look & feel enhancements on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X as well as Linux. This beta version is available for download at Mozilla.com. The final version of it is anticipated to be released later this year.
