A recent study has found that Facebook is the most visited website for mobile internet users in the UK. Nearly a third of people who have access to the web through their mobiles visited the social media site in December.
In all, around 16 million people used the internet through their phones that month, visiting a staggering 6.7 billion pages. Facebook was the most popular site with 2.64 billion of those page views.
The study comes as a result of a partnership between comScore, the GSM Association and the operators O2, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and 3UK. Between them, they have launched Initial Mobile Media Metric to try and offer greater insight into the way that the British public make use of mobile media. The data will be of use to any company involved in mobile media.
The CEO of the GSMA, Rob Conway, said:
“On behalf of our operator partners, comScore and the GSMA, we are excited to be launching Mobile Media Metrics in the UK, our first market, and we anticipate that it will accelerate growth in the mobile advertising market.”
