New program to promote Live Search

October 4, 2008

SearchPerks is a new reward program by Microsoft and is aimed at getting users to undertake their searches on Microsoft’s Live Search. This is yet another attempt by them and it joins the list of earlier programs like Live Search Cashback, Live Search Club and Search & Give. The creation of all of those incentives is for one and only one reason- to boost Live Search’s usage amongst web searchers.

Via the SearchPerks program, users are awarded tickets each time Live Search is used by them. They can go ahead and earn up to 25 tickets everyday. Later, these tickets are redeemable against some prizes. The registration for joining this program will not be ending until 31st of December, 2008 or till the target of 250,000 sign-ups has been achieved. Those who are able to register have till the April of 2009 to earn the tickets because by then it will be announced by Microsoft whether or not they will be continuing with SearchPerks.

The thing to note is that Internet Explorer 6 or higher is needed if the users want to get inside the program. So maybe Microsoft is trying to work two things out with one move.
