Microsoft to Sell Ads on CNBC.com
December 11, 2007NBC Universal and Microsoft have strengthened their business bond with yet another deal. The giants have signed a deal wherein Microsoft will provide technology and sell ad inventory on CNBC.com. The venture is expected to extend Microsoft’s MSN Finance vertical.
The software biggie said it will be the exclusive third-party seller of contextually driven text ads on the site starting later in December, and display ads beginning in March 2008.
CNBC.com, part of General Electric’s NBC Universal division, has about 2.6 million unique visitors each month, according to a company statement. Microsoft aims at aggregating visitor information and habits at CNBC.com to better target advertising in the future.
Microsoft has a major presence in the online industry with sites such as Microsoft.com, Live.com, Xbox Live, Office Live, and Windows Live. And it continues to strengthen its roots by further investments in the advertising business. The $6 billion acquisition of online advertising company aQuantive is proof of the same.
