Google-Yahoo! to think of cooperation, but nothing is official yet
During a two-week long test, Google sold search advertisements on rival Yahoo! last month as part of the latter’s desperate attempt for seeking an alternative option to Microsoft’s hostile takeover bid. Schmidt stated the trial run on Yahoo! offered many reasons for both the parties to further think of cooperation, but there was no official deal yet.
We view the test as vastly successful. That is a good enough basis to talk to Yahoo! some more.
Google expects to launch several innovative new products for its popular YouTube web video service in the space of next few months. The company sees reason for closer and meaningful cooperation with Yahoo!, as stated by Eric Schmidt, its chief executive.
Schmidt has stated that getting the video sharing web site to make money is their top priority for the year. He did not give any details of the new products in the pipeline, and they are not still even in initial, or beta, testing mode.
