Google and Yahoo to Delay Outsourcing Contract

October 10, 2008

The web giants Google and Yahoo issued a statement about their postponing the agreement as they want to give the Justice Department time for probing into the issue.

Sources from both companies have confirmed that there would be a brief delay in the entire process. The implementation of the outsourcing contract was delayed as it was scheduled for October. But company sources have not informed about the completion of the contract.

Yahoo has had discussions with regulators and is looking forward to responding to their questions regarding the agreement.

While on the other hand Google’s declaration even expressed similar intentions. Google is still in conversation with the Department of Justice. Even the Google team confirmed about the brief delay in implementing the agreement.

Both the web giants announced about the delay in the contract on the same day. The best part is the announcement was made on the day when the chairman of the Senate Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Subcommittee had urged the Department of Justice to further probe and inspect the partnership. There are even reports about Canada’s Department of Justice retaining a high-profile regulator. They plan to conduct their own investigation. Critics and market gurus see this move as a risk as it would hike paid search advertising prices.
