Facebook turnover will cross 500 million dollar mark in 2009

Mr. Andreessen, who is a Facebook board member, has stated that the social networking giant could well surpass the coveted one billion dollar mark this year if it pushes harder on selling advertising. Andreessen, who is a Silicon Valley based entrepreneur, joined Facebook’s board last year in July. He has also added that it is really important for Facebook to retain its existing user base while continuing to add more users to their ever expanding list.

He stated that Facebook is easily going to cross 500 million dollar mark this year and also added that if they paid more attention towards their monetisation drive, they might just be able to topple the billion dollar mark. He believed Facebook would easily be doing billions of dollars worth of business in the next five years.

Mr. Andreessen stated that Twitter the microblogging service is growing with a lot of intensity, but not making any money at the moment. He further added that it was important for Twitter to grow its user base and market share just like Facebook has, over the past couple of years. It is said that Facebook had offered Twitter 500 million dollars in stocks.
