Domain name registrations grow worldwide
The global market for web based advertising is growing by leaps and bounds, and is expected to gross $35.2 billion by the end of 2007.
No surprise, domain name registrations worldwide are also growing at an impressive rate.
Until the first half of 2007 for which figures are available, the cumulative base of worldwide domain name registrations stands at 138 million. This is across all TLDs or top level Domain Names.
According to the figures available, the registrations have increased by over 30 per cent over the corresponding quarter last year.
In terms of overall registrations, .com - in terms of its total registrations base – has retained its position as the largest TLD, with .de, and .net following. The next largest TLDs, .uk (UK), .cn (China) and .org have roughly the same number of domain registrations.
