WordPress SEO Plug-ins

March 18, 2008

As you well know there are numerous content management systems out there, most of which are blog based content systems. To name a few, we have ‘Blog CMS’, ‘b2evolution’ and in particular ‘Word Press’.

Time and time again the SEO programmer will come across these CMS “Content Management Systems”, which can be restricted and bespoke which lengthens the optimisation process.

Take your Meta Tag information for example. Usually within a backend system some sort of database is used to select the keywords and description, instead of the conventional HTML <head> tag implementation.

To implement this SEO work some CMS systems provide the capability of adding plug-ins. Plug-ins make it easier to apply the functionality without having to know the exact code, although you might need to edit the code to ensure it is more bespoke.

Wordpress for example uses many SEO plug-ins, which enable users to optimise their website more easily, these include:

Akismet : This already comes with Word Press but is worth a mention. Akismet is the most effective tool for stopping SPAM. It will also save the spam inside a database just in case you want to check the data.
SEO Title Tag: This is similar as above but allows the user to simply modify their title tags for page optimisation.
Google Sitemaps: Generates a Google compliant site map for your blog. This helps Google spider and indexed your pages more quickly.

There are of course lots more plug-ins for various different CMS systems, some more complex than others. As search engine optimisation specialists our programmers have detailed knowledge of optimising CMS platforms, please contact us today if you need any advice.
