Yahoo Pipes has been around for a while now, but I think it’s been a bit lost and forgotten over the years. So what is Yahoo Pipes and how can it help my website?
Well, quite simply, Yahoo Pipes is a service that offers to create RSS feeds from various sources through a visual editor in a similar way to the relationship editor in Microsoft Access. You can create a pipe by connecting pre-configured modules together such as the “Fetch” module that will allow you to enter a URL of a feed then pass that information onto the “Sort” module which will (based on the criteria specified) sort the content in various ways and then you can export the feed to RSS 2.0. However, if you are looking for something a little more complex Yahoo Pipes also offers a collection of “operator” modules that can help create a more refined feed. Creating unique RSS feeds based on an industry or service is now extremely easy to do with minimal effort through its visual editor.
So, in conclusion, Yahoo Pipes in my opinion one of the best free services for creating RSS feeds that is around at the moment. As a result of its ease of use and flexibility you cannot go wrong when creating bespoke RSS feeds for you site.
