Traffic Building Tutorial: getting even more visitors from StumbleUpon

Having used StumbledUpon quite often recently and receiving a great deal of traffic from it, I’ve decided to share my experience and thoughts on the service.

What is StumbleUpon? StumbleUpon is a service with remarkable features; it combines conventional social networking aspects with a revolutionary site discovery toolbar enabling you to find new sites at the click of button. The StumbleUpon base architecture is somewhat democratical and does a great job showing pages that are relevant to their users, based on the personal information entered in their profiles, like-minded stumblers, chosen friends or joined groups; in combination with the comments, ratings and tags added in the reviewed pages.

How to get tons of traffic from StumbleUpon

  • Be an active Stumbler. Submit and Stumble as many pages as you possibly can. So that your profile has credibility and in this way you will slowly build your network because other stumblers can see who stumbled a similar page and they will be more likely to befriend you.
  • Submit only quality pages. This will give your profile more integrity, in the end of the day you don’t want your profile to appear next to crappy pages.
  • Join relevant groups. Find communities with common interests so that the pages that you stumbled come up in the homepage for the groups that you’ve joined..
  • Exchange stumbles. Ask fellow stumblers to ‘thumb up’ your pages or participate in stumble exchanges in order to get the first few reviews.
  • Be the first stumbling your own pages. So that you can control the title and description in the StumbleUpon’s ‘website review’ page.
  • Add multiple tags. Make sure you add appropriate tags to the pages you stumble; the more tags you the more exposure your pages will get.

After sometime doing the techniques mentioned above your StumbleUpon audience number will certainly grow and consequently your profile will become more prominent which can potentially bring you thousands of qualified visitors each time you stumble your web pages.
