As SEO professionals, we are all aware that keyword rich domains are liked by Google and tend to show favouritism to domains that contain the keywords within them. If the domain name is an exact match to a keyword being searched for, it is does not take rocket science to work out that your site is going to rank higher for that keyword than sites that are not keyword rich.
Many people have argued against this, stating that is a flaw in Google’s Algorithm and that surely showing this type of favouritism is wrong – and to some extent I have to agree.
With many people realising that Google likes keyword rich domains, there has been a huge clamour to buy these domains and turn their website into a top ranking site, while generating a huge amount of traffic.
Methods becoming increasingly popular that we are seeing more and more of include people 301 redirecting the keyword rich domains to their current sites, the creation of content rich doorway pages on the keyword rich domains and moving entire sites over to new domains.
Be aware, however, it has already been reported that Google are already onto these methods and looking for people who do this purely for SEO benefit.

Within a niche I operate in, I’ve defintely noticed an increase in keyword rich domains using the geographical location as the subdomain, seems to be working too as they are ranking well.
I remain unconvinced that Google will be able to sort these issues out in a timely manner, I still see top ranking sites adopting methods such as blatent keyword stuffing and ranking highly as a result of it!!
