The Importance of Making Tea
October 24, 2005It is in my nature to differ from the norm so today, instead of filling heads with technical jargon of how Search Engine Optimization works or what is going on within the S.E.O industry, I’m going to discuss the magnitude of a good office atmosphere when faced with a crisis.
At Just Search we have two main departments; the sales team and us here in designing and after being here a week I got the impression that we were two separate units. The members of each team don’t really talk much on a professional level. They don’t want to know what we do and we don’t really care what they do.
So when our internet connection went down last week I was expecting a very diverse reaction to the problem. As is, what occurred was completely different. Instead of blaming us over the setback, the sales team just took it on the chin and offered us their full support in rectifying the situation. We all pulled together and for the first time in my life I realized that I was part of something a lot bigger than it looked on the outside. Whilst we (the designing dept.) were running around trying to fix our problem with our Internet, they (the sales dept.) were fully behind us, getting on with selling the company’s services and making us tea.
This brings me to my point this week, tea is very important when in a crisis but without a good team there behind you to make it, you are going to have problems. I’ve been a part of teams in the past but nothing has compared to how the guys here in the office have made me feel, not only over the last week but also when we were faced with a crisis.
Here at Just Search we have a great team that is willing to go all the way, not only for each other but for the benefit of our clients as well.
It is a team that I’m proud to be a part of and one that I’m willing to give my all for.
