Social Bookmarking and Yahoo Buzz

March 25, 2008

Are you familiar with social bookmarking web services? If you are I’m sure you have all seen little thumb nail pictures saying ‘Digg it!’ and ‘Deli.icio.us’ amongst many others.

These thumbnail pictures enable you to bookmark articles on social bookmarking websites .These websites are a simple way of storing, sharing and discovering different bookmarks over the internet.

Social Bookmarking in an off page SEO technique which can gain your site some good initial traffic. However traffic from social bookmarking sites tends to have a high bounce rate, as readers are only interested in reading the article they found.

Yahoo Buzz is similar to Digg but unlike most social bookmarking services the bookmarks are not calculated by the number of votes a certain article receives. Buzz calculates its score using Buzz Score (whatever that means!).
Buzz tries to create a more realistic approach for scoring by creating its score from a combination of search terms, article email submissions and voting.

If Digg and the rest of the bookmarking services have worked for you then why not try the new and improved version of Buzz. Buzz is created by Yahoo so the level of traffic created if your article is on Buzz it can only help your traffic numbers.
