SEO terms
December 18, 2005If your new to the SEO process then below are a few explanation of terms you might read or hear relating to SEO:
Search engine
A Search engine is a web site designed to show visitors a list of websites that relate to a given search term.
Search engine marketing (SEM)
Search engine marketing also known as (SEM) are the strategies and tactics used to increase the amount of buyers your site receives.
Search engine optimisation (SEO)
Search engine optimisation (SEO) refers to the strategies techniques and tactics practised to improve a websites status and listings in the Search engines under a given search term.
Search engine results pages (SERP’s)
Search engine results pages are the pages in the search engines. E.g. if you are on the first page of the SERP’s, then for Google you will be in the top ten results.
Search term
Search terms is the selected key phrase or terms that you would use in a search engine to find a list of site appropriate.
Search term popularity
Search term popularity refers to how many times other browsers are searching for a selected search terms. The use of this is to find terms that will generate traffic.
