Search engine optimisation - Is it old? Or is it young?
October 28, 2006I don’t know. A few weeks ago I wrote a blog stating the views of a top US based Search engine optimisation expert and he stated that he thought that the industry would be near as enough dead in five years.
Now, with the successful launch of Windows Live! Search Microsoft has decided to take out a new advertising campaign both online and in the press. This campaign is mainly aimed at increasing the companies share price within the search engine industry. They have clearly stated their standpoint on the subject and noted that they are fairly new to the game of search. Microsoft knows they need to bring something to the table and with Live! proposed to be heavily linked into their new Vista operating system they will certainly do that.
But a statement that I jumped on was that Microsoft believes that the search business is still in its infancy. Now I know we’re not in the search engine industry but the industry of search engine optimization has grown from it. So if the search engine industry is still in its infancy then so ours must be. The fact of the matter is that as the search engines change we must also to make sure that the products and services that we provide are still beneficial to both our new and existing customers.
Which is why, as part of my new position as project team leader I have commissioned more research and development than ever done before behind our doors. With any new knowledge that comes to light we in the technical department will be able to apply to better the company as whole to the benefit of our clients.
