Recent StumbleUpon Update Adds More Search Engines

The latest addition to the StumbleUpon toolbar (currently version 3.12) allows you to view sites that have been reviewed by StumbleUpon users in your search engine listings. The currently list of supported search engines includes the following.

Google

Google

Yahoo!

Yahoo!

Ask (global only)

Ask

AOL

AOL

MSN/Live

MSN/Live

Wikipedia

Wikipedia

What you get is normal search engine listings, but layered over the top is a handy little feature that allows you to quickly see if a site has been reviewed or stumbled, and how many people thought the site was good or bad.

If the result has a little StumbleUpon symbol then it has been stumbled. If the site has a little speech bubble then it has also bee reviewed by someone, the more lines that the review bubble has, the more reviews there has been for that site. The number of stars shows how much good or bad attention the site has received.

I am one of the 3.7 million people who have now downloaded the toolbar an I think that this is quite a good feature. It helps to cut out some of the rubbish that you can often find in results pages (this applies to some search engines more than others). Although I only see it on Google and Wikipedia (they are the two sites that I use from the list) I can see a small selection of people will install the toolbar in order to view these results.
