Importance of W3C Validation
October 10, 2008Although this is a very old and recurring SEO topic, I thought I’d mention it again, to refresh and emphasise its importance. By far the most popular tool to perform this validation is the infamous W3C’s Web Standards - HTML and CSS validator. People are usually put off by validation purely due to the enormity of the task, however usually at their peril, as it is considered a very important factor, as some search engine crawlers may reject or even stop crawling a page when encountered with too many validation errors, thus preventing indexing of links to new pages.
No matter how competent you are at coding, it is human nature to make mistakes and this is often the reason why random code errors creep into your code, although it is sometimes impossible to remove all validation errors, the trick here is to get the number of validation errors down to or as close to ZERO as physically possible.
Personally speaking I don’t have a concrete answer to this question, however I understand that conforming to w3c code validation not only shows that your SEO company is competent and doing their job effectively, but more importantly your website is more likely to be compatible on numerous browsers to maximise your website’s exposure.
