Here at Just Search we often advise that clients add a blog to their site because it is a great way of increasing content and communicating to new and existing customers. This is good for search engine optimisation purposes. Once a blog is built the aim is to add regular content and build up a thriving community. Building a thriving blog community can be a long process but can be achieved by following some basic guidelines.
Consistent Posting Intervals
Readers of any blog like consistency. This is why it is important to have a consistent blogging rate. We often recommend that you write at least one post a day but obviously it varies depending on industry or site topic. Readers should be able to familiarise themselves with your style and how your blog is updated easily.
Respond to Replies
Responses to blog posts are a great way to measure how successful your blog is and see how many people are engaging with what you are writing. You should always respond to people’s comments and questions as it gives you the opportunity to build up a relationship with your readers. Readers need to feel like they are gaining something by leaving a comment or posting a question. If they are made to feel apart of a community then it would encourage them to make future comments.
Participate in other user’s blogs
Readers of your blogs are often enthusiasts or experts in your chosen field and have blogs of there own. It is a good idea to participate in their blogs and build up two way communications with these people. Over time you may be able to build up a network of bloggers and give them the opportunity to be guest posters on your blog. Some blogs include articles from other blogs because they are able to provide insights in to particular niche areas of your topic. This is an excellent way adding new and insightful information to your blog.
Link to others and thank bloggers that link to you
You will often find that the inspiration for your blog posts come from other blogs and therefore it is important to acknowledge these blogs or bloggers in your post. For example the inspiration for this post came from the How to Get More Comments on Your Blog, By Leaving It post on seochat.com. This technique not only improves the quality and value of your posts but also gives recognition to the original blogger. This should make them aware of the existence of your blog and if it is a good quality blog then they may do something similar with your posts in the future.
Although these factors play an important role in building a blogging community it is clear that content is still king. Readers will only come back to your site if they are gaining something from it. So for example if you are providing unique and up to date information on fighter jets then people are likely to repeat visit the site. So why not start building a budding blog community today.
