Video Sitemaps - December 24th, 2007

Google have announced an extension to the Sitemaps protocol and you can now submit ‘Video Sitemap’s to Google. The video sitemap is meant to make your videos more searchable in Google. You can submit these new sitemaps alongside your traditional sitemap; it is submit in the same way through your webmaster tools page.

Google have given us a helping hand in the webmaster help centre by showing us what a video sitemap should look like. Obviously it’s in XMl. The file gives allot more information that a standard sitemap including: title, description, duration as well as weather your video is suitable for children and a link to a thumbnail.

If you have videos on your website then this is good news to get your content out there in a more efficient manner.

Pay Per Click - What Is A Call To Action? - December 23rd, 2007

If you’ve been looking at running pay per click or other marketing campaigns, then no doubt you will have come across the term ‘call to action’ once or twice on your travels. So what does it mean, what is a call to action?

Call to action is one of the most important marketing concepts. Put simply, it means enticing or encouraging the marketing recipient to take the action you want them to by giving them a clear, actionable message.

Examples of a call to action in a pay per click ad would include:

Get 50% Discount Now
Buy Now For Free Delivery
Limited Offer, Get Free Upgrade

Saying things like ‘Wide Range’, ‘Huge Choice’ or ‘Cheap Products’ just informs people, it doesn’t ‘call’ them to take action.

When setting up your pay per click ad texts, be sure to include a call to action.
