The Google Search Engine - December 17th, 2005

Four the five years I’ve been working in SEO I have seen many things happen; From complete search engine make overs to minor algorithm changes. However I’ve now hit a point that each day I look at google and instead of seeing a search engine that started off for the browser they have now gone into the realms of monopolisation and are milking it.

It seems that because they earn so much money from their ad campaigns they seem to have forgotten about the quality of their Natural Searches. I still believe their is some good in google, however when I started to see they had let back into their search engine many pages and websites that use blatant unorthodox methods of SEO, from Hidden divs to no script code to repetition of keywords.

Where my problem arises is that they have a guideline for what their search engine classes as SPAM or unethical SEO and the sites that practise this seem to now be allowed to do it. The trouble is if you are a site that want to do things by the book its hard to compete when the chips are stacked against you.

We still believe strongly in White hat SEO and it does work, but sometimes the white hat SEO’s get a little dishearten because of un satisfactory results.
