Just DMOZ - November 18th, 2005

Recently we have had to take action to remove the Just Search Version of the Open Directory Project. Google’s recent Jagger update is now taking action against sites who incorporate a site crawling system( similar to how Google collects data ). We had installed this system within ethical guidelines of the search Engines and have provided information to 1000s of Visitors and helped promote thousands of websites, but unfortunately this is no longer an ethical method.

We have not had our site banned from Google however we consider Just search Ltd to only practice Ethical Search Engine Optimization and feel this should be represented throughout our site and branding.

The removal of this feature will more than likely increase our listings back to where we were, the first page. Our own database Browse-ing is currently under development and we are hoping to implement this system very soon.

301 Redirects - November 16th, 2005

It was once thought that having more than one domain name can harm your listings in the top search engines.

It is not a good idea to have two identical websites held under two different domains but it is alright to have one website with more than one domain if a 301 redirect is used. To implement a 301 redirect you need to make use of an .htaccess file, which gives instructions to your server on how to handle your web pages. For more information on 301 Redirects, please see the following website which outlines in detail the many applications for an .htaccess file
